The development of technology and communication in the digital era has presented social media as one of the means of supporting effective learning. One of the platforms that is popular and widely used in the context of education is Instagram, especially in learning Arabic in Indonesia. Learning Arabic is often considered difficult and boring because of the conventional approach, so innovative media that is in accordance with the characteristics of the digital generation is needed. The @marhaban.academy Instagram account is present as one of the educational media that presents Arabic materials, especially vocabulary (mufrodat), with an attractive visual appearance, the use of animation, and varied and contextual language.
This research departs from three main problem formulations: (1) how the characteristics and variations of Arabic learning content uploaded on the Instagram account @marhaban.academy; (2) how to use visual and linguistic elements in the delivery of materials; and (3) how the material presentation strategy is used. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics and variations of the content, analyze the visual and linguistic elements used, and explore the strategies for the presentation of Arabic learning materials applied by the account.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The data collection technique was carried out through non-participatory observation and documentation of the uploads of the @marhaban.academy Instagram account. The object of the research was 15 contents consisting of 10 feed uploads and 5 video reels which were analyzed during the period from May 1 to May 31, 2025. The analysis is focused on the content of the material, visual elements, and linguistics, as well as the presentation strategies of the content displayed.
The results of the study show that the Arabic learning content on the @marhaban.academy account is very varied, including mufrodat, everyday expressions, comparison of meanings, and differences between fusha and ammiyah Arabic. Visual elements such as illustrations, soft colors, and typography support comprehension, while linguistic elements are displayed communicatively and relevant to the user's daily life. The presentation strategies used are creative, contextual, and effective, although the interactivity aspect can still be improved.
In general, this study concludes that the @marhaban.academy account successfully utilizes Instagram as a medium of learning Arabic that is communicative, fun, and in accordance with the characteristics of the digital generation. The combination of visual, linguistic, and presentation strategies makes the content on this account interesting and able to increase users' understanding and interest in learning.
