Abstract
ABSTRACT
Zulfa Imarah. The Perception of Motherless Female Students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta toward Spirituality from the Perspective of Islamic Education. Undergraduate Thesis, Islamic Education Study Program, STIT Madani Yogyakarta, 2026.
This study aims to analyze the spiritual condition, perceptions of spirituality, and the experience of losing a mother figure in shaping the spirituality of motherless female students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants consisted of five motherless female students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using the Colaizzi phenomenological analysis model.
The findings revealed that the spirituality of motherless female students is characterized by efforts to draw closer to Allah ﷻ through worship, prayer, recitation of the Qur’an, as well as the development of patience and trust in Allah ﷻ (tawakkul). Spirituality was perceived as a close relationship with Allah ﷻ that provides peace, strength, and meaning in life. The experience of losing a mother figure, whether due to death or parental divorce, played a significant role in shaping spirituality through self-acceptance, life reflection, and increased religious awareness. From the perspective of Islamic Religious Education, spirituality serves as a means of strengthening faith, patience, and devotion to Allah ﷻ .
